Alexa Super Bowl Commercial For 2021_ Cover

Published: February 26, 2021

Alexa is the Budweiser of our time.

Every year in the 1990s and early 2000s, you looked forward to seeing what Budweiser had up its sleeve for the Super Bowl.  And it was guaranteed to get buzz the next day at the water cooler.

These days, that honor goes to Amazon and its Alexa Super Bowl Commercials.

Alexa Super Bowl Commercial 2021: "Alexa's Body"

And based on Alexa’s 2021 Super Bowl commercial, as you’ll see below, Alexa should no doubt be the talk of the virtual “water cooler” on Monday.

The theme of this year’s commercial is Alexa “in-the-flesh” with Michael B. Jordan as the (male) embodiment of Alexa.

The commercial is called “Alexa’s Body” and will run during this Sunday’s Super Bowl.  Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!

    Summary Of The Commercial

If you’re stuck without headphones and can’t easily watch the video, here’s a recap.

The ad starts with the woman in the thumbnail saying to her colleagues, “It’s just flawless… I literally couldn’t imagine a more beautiful vessel for Alexa to be inside.  She then sees a truck with a large headshot of Michael B. Jordan on the side.

The scene then abruptly shifts to her kitchen, where she asks: “Alexa, how many tablespoons are in a cup?”

Instead of Alexa responding, Michael B. Jordan stares her in the eyes and tells her there are 16 tablespoons in a cup.  At the same time, the woman is looking awestruck at her newfound eye candy.

The ad flashes to her telling Alexa to turn on the sprinklers, to add bath oils to her shopping list, and to read her an audiobook in the bath.  All the while, her husband runs into every scene, exasperated that the handsome actor is wooing his wife.

Unsurprisingly, the ad concludes by flashing back to her office, revealing that she has just been muttering out the window herself while she daydreamed about her fantasy embodiment of Alexa.

    Our (10-Second) Review

Our take on the 2021 Alexa Super Bowl Commercial?

The ad is artfully shot, entertaining, and comical, and it will no doubt generate some buzz.  However, it falls slightly short of the high bar set by Alexa’s 2019 Big Game commercial.

Doesn't this seem like ages ago...?

    Re-Watching The 2020 Alexa Commercial

These days, we’re all talking about life before COVID.  Last year, Amazon made a commercial called “Life Before Alexa,” featuring Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia.

In this writer’s humble opinion, this is the funniest of the four.  Check it out.

The 2019 Alexa Commercial That "Made The Cut"

In the 2019 commercial, a raft of celebrities is part of an Amazon Beta Testing Program.

We see them test future Alexa product (from an Alexa microwave to more “out-of-the-box” use cases…).  We won’t spoil the punch lines, but let’s just say that not all ideas made the cut.

"Alexa Loses Her Voice" For Super Bowl 2018

Alexa lost her voice (but won the day) in her first, funny and cameo-filled Super Bowl ad.

We won’t spoil any of this entertaining ad, so check it out below!

    Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed this recap of Alexa’s Super Bowl appearances and check back here for updates as more commercials are released!
